kōmuhu

1. (verb) (-a) to whisper, murmur.

I tētahi Rātapu, kikī tonu tō rātou whare karakia i te tangata. I a Te Teira e inoi ana, ka puta mai ki te whare karakia te kaimataara i oma ake i te awa, ka kōmuhu atu ki te taringa o te tangata i te tatau tonu, "Ē, kei te rere te kahawai!" (TWK 16:5). / One Sunday their church was full of people. Reverend Richard Taylor was saying a prayer when the lookout, who had run from the river, appeared at the church and whispered in the ear of the person just at the the door, "Hey, the kahawai are running!"
