1. (verb) to rustle (of leaves, etc.), murmur, tinkle.

Ka tū waenganui ahau i taua rori, ka ngaehe mai te karaehe wini e pakorea ana (MM.TKM 1/5/1855:6). / I was located half way down the road when there was the tinkle of panes of glass being broken.
Ka ngaehe ngā rau rākau (TK 1/11/1843:44). / The leaves rustled.
