1. (verb) (-a,-ngia) to separate, divide.

He pakitara hoki kei te whakawehe i ngā taha e rua (TWK 9:37). / And a wall separates the two sides.
Whakawehea te tekau ki te rima, ka rua (10 ÷ 5 = 2) (TRP 2010:329). / Divide ten by five, and you get two (10 ÷ 5 = 2).
E iwa, whakawehea ki te toru, ka toru (9 ÷ 3 = 3). / Nine, divide it by three and you get three (9 ÷ 3 = 3).
