Ko tēnei manu, ko te tūī, he manu mōhio, mataku hoki. Kei ngā wā e paparewa (tokoroa) ai taua manu, kātahi ka āhua rarata (JPS 1895:137). / This bird, the tūī, is a clever bird and easily frightened. At times when it is in poor condition it is somewhat tame.
