karawhiu
1. (verb) (-a) to drive, lash, pelt down (of rain), whip.
2. (verb) (-a) to give it everything, act aggressively, act with vigour.
Ka tīmata te kōkiri, karawhiua ana e rātou te haka a Te Rauparaha, a 'Ka mate, ka mate'. Karawhiua ana hoki te whakawāteatea atu i te hoariri, i ngā Tāke i ō rātou kōruarua (TTR 1998:180). / When they began the attack they vigorously performed Te Rauparaha's haka, 'Ka mate, ka mate' as they set about aggressively clearing the enemy, the Turks from their trenches.
