1. (verb) to be thrown into disorder, anxious.

Hohoro tonu te huti i ngā punga o ngā waka. Ehara, kua eke, takawhita rawa ake ngā waka o te tangata rā, e haere mai ana te hau (TP 6/1909:4). / They quickly raised the anchors of the canoes. Sure enough, the canoes of that man were thrown into disorder and the the wind was coming.
