1. (verb) to be faded, faint (of colours, etc.) .
Kāore mātou i te pīrangi kia pūruatia te moko mō te pūrua noa iho te take, engari ākene pea mā reira rawa e mau ai te moko mō ake tonu atu, tē muhani noa ai! (HM 2/1994:3). / We don't want to redo the moko just for the sake of it, but perhaps by doing that the moko will remain forever, and not just fade!
2. (verb) (-a,-tia) to insult, offend, malign, defame, slight, denigrate, disparage, ill-treat.
Kei te muhanitia tō tātou rangatira e te pokokōhua rā! / Our chief is being maligned by that bugger!
