ingoingo Play

1. (verb) to yearn for, desire.


Synonyms: tameme, wawata, warawara, wara, konau, muri aroha, ingo, kōnohi, āwhitu, ohia, murimuri aroha, hōkaka


2. (modifier) spotted, particoloured.

Mā kātoa ngā huruhuru o te toroa ingoingo, engari he pango ngā tōpito o ngā parirau. / The feathers of the southern royal albatross are white, but the ends of the wings are black.


3. (noun) desire, aspiration, yearning.

I te hui ka whakapuakina mai te ingoingo o te hunga kātahi anō ka uru mai ki roto i tēnei akoranga mahi. / At the meeting the new intake into this profession expressed their aspirations.
