Ka kite a Tamaiwaho e kōingoingo ana te tamaiti rā ki tōna hau kāinga (B 1970:59). / Tamaiwaho saw that that child yearned for his true home.

2. (verb) to be spotted, particoloured, having two colours.

Ka tou kūmara koe i te rā tika, kātahi ka hauhake, ka kohi ki te rua kūmara, kāore e kino mō tētahi wā roa, kāore e kōingoingo, kāore e maroke (HP 1991:31). / When you plant kūmara on the correct day, then when you harvest and place them in the kūmara pit they won't deteriorate for a long time; they won't have blemishes and won't dry out.
