1. (verb) to be rough, scabby, scabrous, scaly.

Ka pāngia e te pākewakewa, ka whekewheke katoa te kakī me te kanohi. Te mutunga o te pākewakewa he kirihoko (W 1971:252). / When afflicted by syphilis the neck and face are all scabby. The result of syphilis are patches of white skin.
