whēnakonako

1. (verb) to be wistful, yearn, long, desire.

It was done this way because for a long time some of us have been yearning for the classical language, which we are hearing being mixed up, and for a long time we have been cautious about the 'new' Māori language developing in the schools, homes and everywhere that the Māori language is being learnt.
