Ngā Rauru
1. (personal noun) tribal group of the Waitōtara-Whanganui area.

Ko ngā kupu o te waiata, ko ngā whakamārama hoki he mea kohikohi mai e ia i ngā iwi o te rohe o Taranaki, i a Ngā Rauru, i a Ngāti Ruanui (M 2006:418). / He collected the words of the song and the explanations from the tribes of the Taranaki district, from the Ngā Rauru and Ngāti Ruanui tribes.
2. (personal noun) tribal group of Taumarunui and the area southwest of there and to the west of the upper Whanganui River.

tatangi
1. (verb) to rattle, jingle (as with keys), gurgle.

One year later he reversed his opinion, saying, "The Queen has the substance of the land and the Māori retains only the shadow."

5. (noun) variety of harakeke from Whanganui river. Has straight, strong, pointed leaf with red tonings inside the old blades. Very blue bloom on the back of the blades. Very few flower heads. A handsome bush, quite a contrast with a distinctive deep blue tone about its tall bright bronzy leaves.
