1. (verb) (-a,-ngia,-tia) to put to death, kill, execute, cause to be sick.

Ka whakamatea a Kereopa mō te kōhuru i a Te Wākana, 1872 (Ma 1888:3). / Kereopa was executed for the murder of Mr Volkner, 1872.
