1. (verb) to be obstinate, stubborn, unyielding, intransigent, unbending, obdurate, adamant.

Ko ia rawa te tangata i tino taumārō kia kore rawa atu tēnā hanga te rori e mahia ki tana kāinga— (TWMNT 8/1/1873:2). / He was the person who was adamant that the road should not be constructed at his home.
