1. (verb) to be bald, balding - strictly of the top of the head.

Kua kaumātuatia ahau kua hewa taku upoko, hei tohu tēnei mō te roa o te wā i tohe ai ahau i tētahi tikanga e ora ai te iwi Māori (TPH 30/5/1901:3). / I am elderly and my head is balding, this is a symbol of how long I have been arguing for a process to save the Māori people.

1. fine weather.

Ko te paki o Hewa ngā rangi o tana tangihanga, erangi, nō te amohanga atu i te kāwhena ki runga o Taupiri, ka whakaheke te ua tātā (TTR 1996:229). / For the days of the tangihanga the weather was fine, but as the coffin was borne onto Taupiri heavy rain fell.
