taitai Play

1. (verb) (-a) to wrestle, dash, strike, knock.

Kei te taitai te pōai rā i tōna māhunga ki te pakitara! (PK 2008:820). / That boy is bashing his head against the wall!


2. (verb) (-a) to brush, scrub.

Ētehi wā hoki tino wareware koe ki te taitai i ō niho (NW 1991:24). / Sometimes you completely forget to brush your teeth.


3. (verb) (-a) to perform a tapu removal ceremony.

Ka taitaia te waka (NM 1928:94). / Then the tapu removal ritual was performed over the canoe.


4. (noun) wrestling.

I te tākaro mamau, arā i te taitai, i riro i a au te toa (HP 1991:39). / In wrestling I was the champion.


5. (noun) brush.
