1. (verb) to be out of breath, pant, gasp, puff.

Ka tīmata ana tā rātou oma, wenewene ana, nō te taenga ki te wā hei whakapaunga mō te kaha ka takoto ki raro tūngāngā ai (TP 4/1907:4). / When their running begins, they are grumbling, and when the time arrives to really exert themselves they lie down panting.
