Nō te tau 1843 ka puta te mautohe tino nui. Ko te pūtake, he korenga nō Te Rauparaha rāua ko Te Rangihaeata i whakaae kia rūrihia te mānia o Te Wairau (TTR 1990:302). / The major clash came in 1843. The cause was because Te Rauparaha and Te Rangihaeata would not agree for the Wairau plains being surveyed.
