1. (verb) to slacken, loosen.

Ka kukuti ana te pātūpoho, ka ngotea te hau takiwā ki roto i ngā pūkahukahu, ā, ka makoha te poho. Ka hangoro te pātūpoho, ka tukuna te hau, ā, ka heke anō te poho (RP 2009:344). / When the diaphragm contracts, air is sucked into the lungs and the chest expands. When the diaphragm slackens, the air is released and the chest subsides.
