whakapūioio
1. (verb) to strengthen, harden, toughen, consolidate, fortify.
Ko te mea nui kia tutea, kia kōrurerurehia ngā whakaaro ki te reo Māori e whakamatika nei, e whakapūioio nei tātou (HM 1/1993:1). / The main thing is to prod and shake up the ideas about the Māori language whereby we rise with strength.
2. (modifier) strong, solid, robust, tough.
