1. (verb) to be talkative, witty, loquacious, chatty, mouthy.

He pai tonu te tangata i te wā kāore he waipiro i roto, he tangata hūmārie, ngākau aroha, engari kia tae ia ki te puna o tōna kai, kia rua kia toru ngā karaihe kua tātākī tōna waha; kua pērā me te manu e tīmata ana ki te waiata, ka whakatāmoumou i tōna kakī, ka roharoha i ōna parirau (TP 5/1911:2). / A man is quite alright when he has no liquor inside him, he is a pleasant compassionate person, but when he turns to drink and has two or three glasses he becomes loquacious; like a bird beginning to sing, when it puffs out its throat and flaps its wings.

(TP 5/1905:9). / When a man stands to speak at night through to the middle of the night and a person hears how eloquent that man speaking is, the people say, " Oh, the singing bellbirds of Rongomaitāpui are calling."
