1. (verb) to rub back and forth.
Ka uru atu a Hā ki roto i ngā kūhā kāore tonu i takitaro e kauhikahika ana rāua kua tae noa mai ngā mahi a Mokakati rāua ko Maunene (JPS 1928:372). / Hā entered between the thighs and it wasn't long after they were rubbing back and forth that Mokakati and Maunene began to work.
2. (noun) rash, chaffing, rubbing, nappy rash.
Ko te wāhi tere rawa te ngaua ko ngā kūhā, ko te mate e kīia na he 'kauhikahika' (TP 12/1904:3). / It is the thighs that are most rapidly affected. This problem is called 'nappy rash'.
