1. (noun) karo, Pittosporum crassifolium - small bushy tree with alternating leaves, whitish underneath. Young leaves are felted and become dark green and leathery. Flowering occurs in spring and early summer when the dark red flowers appear in clusters. Seed capsules are a rough round shape, splitting open to reveal shiny black seeds.
2. (noun) lemonwood, Pittosporum eugenioides - a tree with very glossy long leaves with wavy edges which grows alongside streams and open forest. The gum was used for scent.
