1. (verb) (-tia) to pile up in a heap, heap up.

Kātahi ka whakapūranga i ana hua whero ki te oneone, ka mea mai ki a au, "Inā ngā hua kareao mā 'Te Pīpīwharauroa'." (TP 5/1904:1). / Then the boy placed his red berries on the ground in a heap and said to me, "Here are supplejack berries for 'Te Pīpīwharauroa'." (The pīpīwharauroa is a shining cuckoo but also the name of a Māori language newspaper.)
