marū

1. (verb) to be bruised, crushed.

Ei, kaua e tīkina tērā waewae mātotoru hei hoa kanikani mōu, ka marū noa iho ōu waewae (HJ 2012:17). / Hey, don't go and get that heavy-footed person as a dancing partner for you, your feet will just get bruised.

2. (verb) to be killed.

Kua marū kē ngā poaka te tukituki (W 1971:184). / The pigs have been bashed to death.

3. (verb) to be cooked.
