Ko Mōkena Kōhere te rangatira nāna i toutou ngā ahi a ngā iwi o Waiapu me Tūranganui-a-Kiwa kia kā ake anō (TTR 1990:41). / Mōkena Kōhere was the chief who enabled tribal fires to be rekindled, both in Waiapu and in Poverty Bay.
