I te tau 1936, i tū ia hei waha kōrero mō Te Arawa, wero ai i te Kotahitanga Whakahaere, kia kaua e whakaritea he tākaro whutupaoro i waenganui i ngā toa o te tīma hāereere o Āwherika, me ngā toa Māori i te tau 1937 (TTR 1996:100). / In 1936 he acted as spokesman for Te Arawa in requesting the Rugby Union not to schedule a game between the touring team from Africa and the Māori team in 1937.
