He papu wai i tētahi o ngā poka waro, hei tango ake i ngā wai kia tika ai te mahi o ngā kaikeri waro, engari nā te hē o te whakahaere, raru noa iho, e kore e mimiti te wai ina papua, kore anō hoki ngā kaimahi e āhei te haere ki reira mahi ai (TWMNT 2/7/1873:76). / There is a water pump at one of the coal mines to remove the water so that the work of the coal miners can be done correctly, but because it was operated incorrectly it didn't work and would not suck out the water when it was pumped and so the workers aren't able to go there to work.
