1. (noun) snake tail, Pectinura maculata - a large reddish-brown starfish with five smooth, rounded, jointed arms, each tapered towards the tip.Sometimes grow to 300 mm across. Found among seaweed from low-tide to about 20 m throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand.
