pūtūmua

1. (noun) particle - small words that go before nouns, location words, adverbs of time, and pronouns to indicate the connection between one of those words and another word or phrase in the sentence.

Ko te 'i' te pūtūmua matua e tohu ana i te aronga o tētahi tūmahi whiti, pēnei nā: E horoi ana rāua i ngā matapihi (PK 2008:732). / The 'i' is the main particle showing the object of a transitive verb, for example: They are washing the windows.
