1. (verb) to be uncertain, ambivalent, in two minds, wavering, vacillating, undecided.

I Parihaka i te tau 1881, ka kite a Taukē i ngā hōia e rapu pū ana me te wāwāhi hoki i ngā taputapu o ngā kāinga o ngā Māori. Nā ērā mahi ka ngākaurua a Taukē ki te Whakapono (TTR 1990:163). / At Parihaka in 1881, Taukē saw the soldiers searching for guns and destroying the property of Māori homes. Because of those activities Tauke wavered in his Christian faith.
