whakapopō

Ā ka tae taua iwi rā, a Ngā Rauru, ka whakapopōria ngā ahi o te kāinga rā, kia kīia ai e Kaihamu mā, he kai mā rātou, mā Kaihamu mā, e tahuna ana (White 4 1889:79). / And that tribe, Ngā Rauru, made the fires of the village smoulder so that Kaihamu and his people would say that some food for them, for Kaihamu and the others, was being cooked.
