papahuaki
1. (noun) skull roof, dermatocranium.
Ka pōuri a Kuiwai mō te kanga a tana tāne, “Pōkokohua! He pokohiwi nō ō tungāne ngā wahie nā i kore ai e tahuna e koe te papahuaki o tō koutou angaanga kia wera (mō ngā kōwhatu tērā kanga); kia pēnā ake ngā kiko o ō tungāne hihī ana i runga i ngā kōwhatu o Tauranga-whaitiri.” (JPS 1926:217). / Kuiwai was upset by the insulting remark of her husband, “You idiot! Does that firewood represent the shoulder-blades of your brothers that you did not heat the roof of your skull (that curse was for the hāngi stones), so the flesh of your brothers sizzles on the stones of Tauranga-whaitiri.”
