1. (verb) to be upright, standing erect.

Me mātua whakawhiwhi te aratuku me te pūtea ki tētahi kē atu e whakapau kaha ana kia mātiketike ai te reo Māori hei reo tuakana i roto i ngā whakapāhotanga (HM 2/1993:4). / The radio frequency and the funding should be awarded to someone else who will strive to promote the Māori language as a primary language in broadcasting.
