1. (location) ocean - a name for the ocean.

Ko tō rātau marae ko Marae-nui, ko Tahuaroa, ko Mahora-nui-ātea; tā rātau mahi i reira he koakoa ana, e takataka ana, he takaaho ki a rātau anō (JPS 1926:39). / Their marae was Marae-nui, Tahuaroa, Mahora-nui-ātea; and what they did there was to play amongst themselves (referring to the winds).
