1. (verb) be separated, disengaged, removed, stripped off - only used in this passive form.

Heoi, ka hoki te wahine pononga. Ka noho te tuahine o Tiki. Kīhai anō i ngaro atu i tua i te more, ehara kua heuea atu e te wahine ngā kākahu o Oneone (JPS 1952:190). / And so the female servant went back. Tiki's sister remained. The servant had not disappeared round the headland before she had stripped off Oneone's garments.

Kei runga tonu taua tapu i ngā kaihī kia heuea rā anō e te tohunga ina ū ki uta (Te Ara 2015). / The tapu remained on the fishermen until it was eventually removed by a tohunga when they came ashore.
