1. (verb) (-a) to complain, grumble at, annoy.

E hakuhaku noa iho ana koe ki tō manu, nō te mea kei te tukua tonutia atu te nūpepa ki a koe, erangi kei ngā poutāpeta pea e ngaro ana, kua riro rānei i a ringa rua (KO 15/9/1885:3). / You are impetuously complaining to your bird [i.e. newspaper] but the newspaper continues to be sent to you, so perhaps it is lost at the post offices, or has been taken by someone else.
