Ki te ngangare tētahi tokorua, ā muri iho ka whawhai, ka mamau ki a rāua, mate ana tētahi, ka meinga hei whakamate ohonoa mehemea kīhai i whai takiwā te ngangaretanga, te whawhaitanga, hei hokinga iho mō te ngākau whakatakariri. (NToI 1858:34). / If two people quarrel, and afterwards fight and wrestle, and one is killed, it will be said to be manslaughter if the interval between the quarrel and the fight was not sufficient for the anger to subside.
