I ngā wā o nehe i kī ngā matatuhi, kōrero anō ai te whaitiri ki a rātou, arā, ko tā ngā matatuhi he whakarongo ki te whaitiri ka whakamārama atu ai ki te iwi (H 1992:30). / In ancient times the seers said that the thunder spoke to them, that is, the seers would listen to the thunder and then enlighten the people.
