1. (noun) shaker - medium-sized gourd with seeds used as a musical instrument by shaking.

Ki te waiho noatia nga kākano ki roto tonu o te hue nui, ka waiho kia maroke, ka taea te āta huri i te hue kia puta ko tētahi puoro rite tonu ki tētahi wairere. Ko tēnei taonga puoro he hue puruwai (TWK 41:7). / If the seeds are left inside a large gourd and it's left to dry the gourd can be used to produce a sound like a waterfall. This musical instrument is a hue puruwai.
