I a ia e hāramuramu noa ana te kōrero, he kīwaha, hangareka kē nei tana momo kōrero, auau tonu tana whakatoi i a ia tonu, inā kē nei te pai o āna kōrero ki te maha o te tangata (TTR 2000:47). / When he was speaking informally he used colloquial language and humour, often directed at himself, which appealed to many people.
