Nū Pāremata

Tae rawa atu te ope a Taranaki kua kore he tāngata, kua wera hoki te pā i te ahi. Ko ngā tūpāpaku e pūkai ana ko Te Waitere, ko tētahi āpiha Pākehā me tana wahine me ngā tamariki tokotoru, me ētahi atu Pākehā tokorua. Heoti haria mai ana ki Nū Pāremata tanu ai (TP 5/1904:8). / When Taranaki's party finally arrived the pā had been burnt. The bodies that were lying in a heap were Te Waitere, a Pākehā officer and his wife and three children with another two Pākehā. And so they were brought to New Plymouth to be buried.
