1. (noun) goatfish, red mullet, Upeneichthys porosus - an endemic fish varying from pale pink to bright red with brownish blotches along the sides. Small mouth with long chin barbells. Found around northern New Zealand from the Kermadec Islands to Golden Bay-Marlborough Sounds.
