1. (noun) arrival.

Ko ia tētahi o ngā ihorei rongonui o taua rohe i te taenga tuatahi atu o ngā Pākehā ki Te Tai Rāwhiti (TTR 1990:111). / He was one of the famous leaders of that district when Pākehā first arrived on the East Coast.

orokotaenga

1. (noun) first arrival - often written as two words, i.e. oroko taenga.

Mai rā anō i te orokotaenga o te Pākehā ki Aotearoa, kua tīkina noatia atu e te Māori he kupu Pākehā, me te whakawhiti ki ngā oro o te reo Māori (HJ 2015:80). / Right since the first arrival of the Pākehā to Aotearoa/New Zealand, Māori have comonly taken English words and adapted them to the sounds of the Māori language.
