1. (noun) bargeboard - the facing boards on the gable of a house, the lower ends of which are often ornamented with carving.
He clenched his fist, punched his nose and when his nose was bloody, he smeared it on the fish-hook and cast it into the sea. It went on and on and reached the carved figure on top of the house, but passed that, passed the bargeboards and disappeared into the verandah of the house, and behold te fish-hook of Māui-tikitiki-a-Taranga caught on the threshold of the doorway.
