Tamatea-angana

wītā
1. (noun) small branches (of trees or shrubs).
"Tīkina atu he rākau wītā, arā rākau nonohi, maua mai ki a au." Ka tae mai aua rākau ki taua kaumātua, ka mahia e ia aua rākau hei paiere, ā herea ana aua rākau (TW 27/7/1878:374). / "Go and get some small branches and bring them to me." When those sticks arrived at the elder, he made them into a bundle and tied them them up.
2. (noun) inner second fence (of a pā) - one of the palisades of a pā between the pekerangi (outer fence) and the kātua (main fence).

1. (personal noun) second lunar month of the Māori year, midwinter - approximately equivalent to July.
Nā, hei te Ngahuru pōtiki, hei te Matahi, hei te Maruaroa hoki, ka whanatu ai au (TWK 34:24). / Now, in the late autumn, in the eleventh month of the Māori year, or midwinter is when I will arrive.

5. (noun) lock of hair.
Ko te pou rāhui te tohu o te rāhui, he mea pani ki te whero. Hei ētahi wā ka whakairia he kākahu, he hukahuka, he rarauhe rānei hei tohu i te rāhui (Te Ara 2013). / A rāhui was often indicated by a post painted red. Sometimes clothing, a lock of hair, or bracken fern might be hung to signal a rāhui.
6. (noun) second palisade of a pā.
